Division of Waste Management Calls for Grant Applications

Frankfort, Ky. (Jan. 20, 2016) – The Energy and Environment Cabinet’s (EEC) Division of Waste Management (DWM) is accepting grant applications for projects that develop an integrated recycling infrastructure and offer public education programs on recycling and household hazardous waste (HHW) management.

Grant funding comes from the Kentucky Pride Fund and is underwritten by a $1.75 per ton fee on municipal solid waste disposed of in Kentucky’s contained landfills. Local governments, solid waste management districts, public schools, universities and colleges are eligible to apply. Priority is given to applicants for regional projects.

Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, April 1, 2016, or handdelivered to the DWM Recycling and Local Assistance Branch by 4 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2016. The original of the entire application and any supporting documentation must be submitted in order for an application to be complete. Each grant requires a 25 percent local match.
